A study led by Atheendar Venkataramani indicated that reparations could close racial gaps in lifespan because wealth has important consequences for health outcomes.

Research by Linda Aiken found that high rates of nurse burnout during the pandemic appear to be a consequence of high burnout prior to it, and returning to pre-pandemic hospital conditions would pose a risk to patient safety.

Where People Experiencing Homelessness Overdose

Elizabeth Nesoff et al found that 55.9% of fatal overdoses among people experiencing homelessness occurred in shelters and that construction on a block was associated with a 38% increase in odds of overdose fatality.

LDI seeks proposals of up to $350,000 for research projects focused on generating rigorous new evidence that will improve outcomes of patients with chronic kidney disease. Applications are due January 31, 2023.

A group of scholars from our Summer Undergraduate Minority Research Program

Penn LDI Undergraduate Training Programs

Applications are now open for the Summer Undergraduate Minority Research Program, and for the new Get Experience in Aging Research Undergraduate Program (GEAR UP). Applications for both programs are due February 1, 2023. Apply to be a mentor for both programs by March 1, 2023.
