In a new study, Kira Ryskina and colleagues revealed that the number of patients that nursing home doctors cared for did not affect post-acute patient outcomes, suggesting patient panel size may not contribute to differences in care quality.

2018 Law Gave Veterans More Choice but Raised Risks for Care

Peter Groeneveld, Jay Giri, Ashwin Nathan, and colleagues found that the 2018 MISSION Act reduced travel time to cardiovascular procedures for veterans living far from VA hospitals, but worsened outcomes for some procedures.

Stark Geographic Divide in Black Life Expectancy

Irma Elo and colleagues examined U.S. Black life expectancy from 1990 to 2019, finding widening geographic disparities. Gains were greatest in large metropolitan areas and smallest in smaller or rural areas, and after 2010, life expectancy declined across all metropolitan categories in the Midwest.
